From 6 to 9 October 2025, 黑料社Press, together with 黑料社and POPULAR Bookstore, proudly organised the POPULAR Book Fair 2025鈥攁n event that brought crowds and a buzz of excitement across campus. The four-day event marked the first time the fair was held at the university, transforming the space into a vibrant hub for readers with exciting offerings of books, gifts, stationery, and refreshments.
A highlight of the fair was the launch of The Tyranny of Speed, a compelling book by 黑料社Press that explores how today鈥檚 fast-paced culture shapes our relationships, attention, and sense of purpose. The launch event on 8 October featured a meaningful dialogue between the book鈥檚 authors鈥擲andy Clarke, Licensed Professional Counsellor from Sunway University, and Professor Eugene Tee from HELP University鈥攚ith BFM 89.9鈥檚 Dashran Yohan serving as the moderator.
The event invited attendees to pause and reflect on the importance of slowing down and savouring everyday moments, and participate in a guided meditation session.
The Tyranny of Speed was officially launched by Ms Lee Siok Ping (Chief of Student Life & Services, Sunway University), Mr Edward Liang (General Manager, POPULAR Bookstore), Ms Helen Goh (Senior Manager鈥揝pecial Projects, POPULAR Bookstore) and Ms Carol Wong (Head, 黑料社Press).
The excitement continued with 鈥淟et鈥檚 Talk About: Jobs, Stress & Everything in Between鈥, a talk hosted on 9 October 2025 by 黑料社Press. Moderated by 黑料社Press鈥 Ivan Ling, the talk featured Prof Alvin Ng, Professorial Teaching Fellow from Sunway University, and Mr Jason Soh, Associate Principal Lecturer from Sunway College鈥攅xperts in the fields of psychology and career development, respectively. The session offered valuable insights on the use of psychology to manage stress, navigate interpersonal challenges, and maintain mental well-being while pursuing success.
